Strike in Schools Continues, Some Schools in Pancevo not Working

Education staff in Pancevo continue their strike. There will be no classes in three high schools, as well as primary schools in Starcevo, Banatsko Novo Selo and Kacarevo. The rest of the schools will have classes 30 minutes long, stated Pancevo Union of Teachers and Professors President Slobodanka Cvetkovic. In some schools part of teachers are on strike with 30 minute classes, while others are giving 45 minute classes. In several primary schools classes are regular.

 

 

Government Offering Social Agreement to Protesters

Minister of Education and Science Zarko Obradovic stated that he will have talks today with representatives of education union in Serbia on agreeing to end the strike. The unions forwarded the proposals and we will discuss them with hope to find a solution, he added.

 

14 Applications for Public Works

National Employment Service received 42 valid application, out of which 14 are from Pancevo. The application is for oganising public works in the field of environment and social services. Public enterprises Hygiene, Zelenilo, Heating, Transport, national Museum, Town Library, Dom omladine and some others applied. The results will be decided by the managing committee of National Employment Service in Pancevo in mid April.

 

Against Communist Party with a Beer Bottle

Someone broke a window at town committee building of Communist Party with an empty beer bottle last night. The police were at the scene and allegations will be brought against unknown perpetrators. There was no other damages in the incident.

Pancevo Local Economic Development Office to Support Entrepreneurs

Pancevo is one more town in Serbia with local economic development office. Its aim is to improve business climate in town. Its main responsibilities will be outlined on the founding assembly on March 30th. In most town agencies of this kind have supported small and medium sized enterprises. In addition to local self- government the Agency has been founded by three privately held companies in Pancevo Bozic i sinovi, Tehnomatket and Utva- Milan Premasunac as well as Association of entrepreneurs of Pancevo. The Agency’s Director Milan Vemic said that the agency should work on improving and promoting economic development, education, consulting and dealing with different projects. The town provided for office space with additional three employees.

 

Protest of Public Services in Belgrade

Protest of unions of public services under a slogan Rise Serbia started at 12.00 in Belgrade. Several thousand people gathered in order to ask from Serbian Government the increase of salaries of employees in public sector. 400 teachers and professors from Pancevo have joined the protest. Because of the protest there are no classes in 17 primary and secondary schools in Pancevo.

 

Withdrawal of Unsafe Brandy from Markets

Agriculture Inspection has controlled over 450 shops across the country since the unsafe brandy appeared in shops. Until now 13 400 liters of this alcohol drink were withdrawn from the market. The control was performed in 26 towns, including Pancevo.

 

Fitness Park Opens in Pancevo Tomorrow

Pancevo Rotary Park will open the fitness park in National Garden tomorrow. The visitors will be able to work out for free. Many sponsors contributed the action: Slovenian Rotary club from Celje as well as others, stated member of Pancevo Rotary club Drago Berginc. Such parks already exist in Belgrade and it is expected that such park will be useful in Pancevo as well.

After Two Decades Pancevo Has Field Protection Service

After twenty years, Pancevo and surrounding villages will have Field Protection Service. The aim of service is to protect and guard farmer fields and prevent field robbery and damage. It should also protect objects, equipment, roads and watering channels. The headquarters of the service will be in Ivanovo village and it should start its work by mid April. The service will have eight members guarding the fields, with the area divided into South and North villages.

 

16 Schools in Pancevo Without Classes Tomorrow

After the lowering of wages for teachers and professors who were on strike, some schools will have no classes on Friday. There will be no classes in 16 schools in town and villages, stated President of Education Staff Union in Pancevo Slobodanka Cvetkovic. The unions of education, judicial, police and health care staff are organising the protest in Belgrade tomorrow, because of the economic position of those employed in the public sector. More than 300 people from Pancevo will attend the protest, added Cvetkovic.

 

Laying of Flowers for Victims of 1999 Bombing at Oil Refinery

Anniversary since the beginning of NATO bombing will be marked today with laying flowers. Three workers of Pancevo Oil Refinery have lost their lives during the NATO bombing in 1999. The flowers are being laid in their honour by the deputy Mayor Bozidar Baros, Commander of Army Garrison Borisa Doknic and director of Pancevo Oil Refinery Miodrag Bogojevic.

 

Reaction to Proposition by Democratic Party of Serbia

Several citizens, who have contacted Radio Pancevo, are against the proposition by Democratic Party of Serbia to rename the downtown street of Zarka Zrenjanina into Victims of NATO Aggression. They do not object to have the street with such a name in Pancevo, only not this one. They are of opinion it should be a street that is closer to the factory.

Every Eighth Man and Third Woman in Serbia Suffers from Osteoporosis

Osteoporosis Council Centre is open on Wednesdays in Health Centre in Pancevo. It is led by Doctor Ana Mitric. Every third woman and eighth man older than 50 in Serbia suffers from osteoporosis. The disease usually stays unnoticeable for a long time, since it has no characteristic symptoms and does not hurt. According to the newest data, the number of people with this disease should double in the next fifty years due to aging of population and way of life.

 

No Classes in 17 Schools in Pancevo on Friday

There will be no classes in about 17 schools in town and villages, stated President of Education Staff Union in Pancevo Slobodanka Cvetkovic. The unions of education, judicial, police and health care staff are organising protest in Belgrade on Friday March 25th, because of the economic position of those employed in the public sector. More than 300 people from Pancevo will attend the protest, added Cvetkovic.

 

Beginning of Treatment of Zvezdana Jurica in China

Six year old girl from Pancevo suffering from Baten disease arrived in China with her mother to begin her treatment with stem cells. The treatment should last for 5 weeks. Until the new drug, which has been tested in America, is approved, the only way for Zvezdana to live normally is the therapy with stem cells every six months. It costs 31 000 US$.

 

Festival of Underwater Film and Photography

Tonight in Pancevo starts The 8th Festival of Underwater Film and Photography organized by the Club for Underwater Activities in Pancevo. Film projections will be held until March 25th in Cultural centre in Pancevo Exhibition of photographs will also be opened tonight. The festival features work of professional and amateur authors from Serbia and abroad.

Application for Building Material for Refugees

Refugee Commesariat starts call for applications tomorrow for help in building material to help refugees from Kosovo build their homes. Applicants with residence and who are owners of building objects on the territory of Pancevo are eligible to apply. The deadline is April 4th.

 

Money for NIS Shares Paid Yesterday

Based on the previously announced offer price of €4.80 per share, Gaz Prom Neft in total paid €40.3 million for acquiring shares of minority share holders, increasing its stake in NIS from 51% to 56.15%. The Russian Company has forwarded money to account yesterday at 15. 30. Following Gazprom Neft's 51% acquisition of NIS, an offer to NIS' minority shareholders was one of the conditions agreed between Gazprom Neft and the Government of Serbia as a part of the purchase agreement.

 

World Waters Day

World Waters day is marked today under slogan "Water for towns. Response to Urban Challenge" with the aim to draw attention of international and domestic community about the consequences on urban water systems due to increased industralisation, climate change and growth of population. In Pancevo world Waters Day is organized by Public Health Enterprise, Primary School Djura Jaksic and PE Decja radost.

 

Serbian Orthodox Church Celebrates Mladenci

Serbian Orthodox Church celebrates Mladenci today in the memory of 40 martyrs, who died for Christ in 320. This is a holiday celebrated by couples, which married in the previous year. It is a custom that couples have guests and receive presents on this day as a contribution to new marriage.
