After Two Decades Pancevo Has Field Protection Service

After twenty years, Pancevo and surrounding villages will have Field Protection Service. The aim of service is to protect and guard farmer fields and prevent field robbery and damage. It should also protect objects, equipment, roads and watering channels. The headquarters of the service will be in Ivanovo village and it should start its work by mid April. The service will have eight members guarding the fields, with the area divided into South and North villages.

 

16 Schools in Pancevo Without Classes Tomorrow

After the lowering of wages for teachers and professors who were on strike, some schools will have no classes on Friday. There will be no classes in 16 schools in town and villages, stated President of Education Staff Union in Pancevo Slobodanka Cvetkovic. The unions of education, judicial, police and health care staff are organising the protest in Belgrade tomorrow, because of the economic position of those employed in the public sector. More than 300 people from Pancevo will attend the protest, added Cvetkovic.

 

Laying of Flowers for Victims of 1999 Bombing at Oil Refinery

Anniversary since the beginning of NATO bombing will be marked today with laying flowers. Three workers of Pancevo Oil Refinery have lost their lives during the NATO bombing in 1999. The flowers are being laid in their honour by the deputy Mayor Bozidar Baros, Commander of Army Garrison Borisa Doknic and director of Pancevo Oil Refinery Miodrag Bogojevic.

 

Reaction to Proposition by Democratic Party of Serbia

Several citizens, who have contacted Radio Pancevo, are against the proposition by Democratic Party of Serbia to rename the downtown street of Zarka Zrenjanina into Victims of NATO Aggression. They do not object to have the street with such a name in Pancevo, only not this one. They are of opinion it should be a street that is closer to the factory.
