Pancevo Helps to Cure Girl Zvezdana

Pancevo Mayor Mrs Martinovic has submitted the 100 000 Serbian dinars to Valerija Jurica for treatment and board expenses of her six year old daughter. She is traveling to China for treatment of Baten disease on Sunday. The town has contributed the entire action to find donations, this is just the finishing act, added the Mayor.

Help for the People of Japan

Mobile operators in Serbia, VIP Mobile, Telenor and telekom Serbia have activated the special SMS number for all users, who wish to donate to help people of Japan. The number is 2001 and price of message is 50 Serbian dinars. All donations will be transferred to the Red Cross of Serbia. The money can be donated directly to the Red Cross through their account no. 255-0013100104000-04 in Privredna Bank, Belgrade.

 

Continuing of Talks between Government and Teachers

Government of Serbia should continue its talks with education unions about their wages. The education unions were invited by the premiere Cvetkovic and Minister of Education Obradovic. Education unions are not concerned only about their wages, but demand that the Law on Basics of the System of Education and Upbringing be amended as well as individual collective agreement. The talks should begin at 15.00

 

No Wheat Exports Will Not Stop Higher Prices of Bread

Forbidden wheat exports from Serbia, adopted by the Government, will not prevent higher prices of bread. President of Bakery Association Zoran Pralica stated that it is necessary to change Government Regulation on the price of bread made from wheat from reserves. This should also prevent monopoly. New price for bread should be 70 Serbian dinars.

Vojvodina Electricity Enterprise: Increased Cutting Off Electricity Because of Bills

The increased action of shutting down electricity for those, who have not paid bills is in progress, stated Electricity Enterprise Pancevo. Households and business companies will be cut off electricity in order to pay their bills. Increased action will be during working days and on Saturdays. Everyone should pay their bills as soon as possible.

 

Workers of Vrsac Brewery Announce Protests

Workers of Vrsac Brewery announced protests for Friday March 18th in front of Pancevo Court because commercial court has instructed the closing of the factory, despite the decision of creditors, Privatisation Agency and insolvency manager of the factory. Vrsac Brewery is declared bankrupt in April last year, but is still working well, pays state taxes, provides for wages, even makes some profit, stated director Ljiljana Dobrosavljevic.

 

Charter on Cooperation between Neolithic Areas

On March 21st in Pancevo Charter on Cooperation Between Neolithic Areas, that is areas Boljetin, Starcevo and Lepenski Vir will be signed. On territories of these areas archeological localities of international significance can be found. This charter should mark the beginning of cooperation between these communities and programmes for improving their identity. Mayor Mrs Martinovic, Austrian Ambassador Clemens Coja and Provincial Secretary for Culture Milorad Djuric will be present at the signing.

 

 

Karate: Bitevic Travels to Italian Open

Serbian karate team heads to Italy tomorrow morning. They participate on the Golden league tournament Italia Open. Pancevo’s Slobodan Bitevic should also be present. Bitevic also participated on the competition in Slovenia last weekend, where he had six wins and received two golden medals.

HIV Testing Day March 21st

On the proposal of Committee for HIV of Province Health Secretariat, it was decided that each third Monday on the territory of province should be marked as HIV Testing Day. This year it will be marked for the first time on March 21st.

 

People’s Party: Decision on Taking Credits for Town Is Wrong

 

Town committee of People’s Party in Pancevo considers that the decision, adopted on the last sitting of Town Assembly regarding taking credits for capital investments is wrong. President of People's Party in Pancevo Borka Zunic stated that some enterprises have enough money to finance projects in their own companies. Budget money should be used for creating new jobs, she added.

 

Spa Rehabilitation for Pensioners with Low Income

Pensioners, who are eligible, could submit application for rehabilitation in some spa centres. They will be able to stay in health facilities free of charge for up to 10 days. Invalid, family and age pensioners, whose pensions are not higher than 20. 372 Serbian dinars are eligible to apply.

 

Concert in Gallery of Contemporary Art

Concert of Quintet of Military Orchestra of USA Army in Europe will start at 19.00 at the Gallery of Contemporary Art. Music pieces by Strauss, Gershwin, Bernstein will be performed. The conductress is Bet Still. This military orchestra is situated in Germany. It was founded in 1940. Entrance is free of charge.

Smells in Pancevo Air

Some unpleasant smells could be felt in the air in Pancevo this morning. The total hydrocarbon and benzene levels, which were higher than prescribed, are lowering. Town council member for environment Vladimir Delja stated that the smells in air are not the result of maintenance in Oil Rafinery in Pancevo. Perhaps the smells have come from pouring of oil or leaking, he added. The situation improved during the day.

Van Drivers Dissatisfied

In order to improve town traffic to be more regular, town administration has decided to include 13 privately held transport owners. The goal is to have more regular lines and vans are driving between public transport bus lines. Though the ticket prices are lower with private transport owners population mainly waits for ATP bus lines since they have already bought monthly tickets for them.

High Prices of Potato in Serbia

Potatoes in markets in Serbia have reached the price of 120 dinars per kilo. For less than a year, the main health products are increased for more than 70 percent. The reason for this is the fall of Serbian dinar, higher prices for plant protection, weak harvest. The record price of potatoes is in Belgrade- 120 Serbian dinars. Around Serbia potatoes can be bought for 70 to 100 Serbian dinars, but there is fear that soon there will not be enough potatoes.

Five Years of Children’s Cultural Centre

Children’s Cultural Centre will mark its fifth anniversary with the exhibition of works of children from Serbia and Iran. Art teacher Emil Sfera stated that this is a unique opportunity for people to get introduced to Iran’s culture through children’s drawings and traditional music from Iran.

Town Assembly Sitting Today

On today’s sitting of town assembly, councilors should consider plans and programmes for several public enterprises. It is also announced that the Decision on pays to workers of public transport enterprise in Pancevo should be considered. Unless 32 million Serbian dinars are given to the workers of public transport for their previous pays, no one will be able to prevent individual suits, which could block bank account of the company, stated Union representatives. Strikes are also an option, they added.

 

The Green of Serbia Party Representation Today

At town administration building at 18.00 the presentation of the Green of Serbia Party will be held. The main subject is The Implementation of Framework Directive on Waters. The participants are: Party President Ivan Karic, Milutin Stevanovic, director of Serbia Waters Enterprise Goran Puzovic and Green of Serbia President for Pancevo Milan Jovanov.

 

Opening of Flag Stone Marking the Zoran Djindjic Square

On Saturday, March 12th, on the eighth anniversary of Zoran Djindjic death, on the square near the new department store flag stone with his name will be opened. At 12.00 people will gather to pay respects. Djindjic's mother will also be present. Flag stone is done by artist Ivana Rakidzic and initiative for naming the square in the honour of premier came from NGO Citizen’s Initiative of Pancevo.

 

New Series Filmed in Studentski

New film series is filming in Pancevo at the moment. It is called "Unbeatable Heart" and the director is Zdravko Sotra and the series is based on the novel of Mir Jam. The series should air on National Television of Serbia from autumn.

 

Event "I Visit the Museum”

In the National Museum in Pancevo the event called “I Visit the Museum” will be held tonight. The participants are head of educational department of Ethnography Museum in Belgrade, painter Zoran Jovanovic Jus, novelist Vule Zuric etc. Students of Gymnasium and primary school from Pancevo will also participate in the debate.
